I'm impressed with the report LGBT Republic of Iran: An Online Reality?, about which Small Media's Bronwen Robertson was rather modest, but must be congratulated. If I were living in Iran, I would be very excited by the radio programmes that are an off-shoot project of this study. As a gay man who has previously used Gaydar to contact men living in Iran and under other repressive regimes, this report has given me new insights. I'm not good with technology and I think it is crucial that queer geeks should help the rest of us to make a difference for isolated LGBT people. My one reservation is that the coordinators should have facilitated opportunities for community building between those who attended and for further action to add value to the awareness raising. Besides talking in the UK on the matters raised and lobbying politicians, we must connect to LGBT Iranians online. I am keen to hear what Small Media intends to do next to support such global relationship building. Count me in.

An utterly fascinating talk! Well done, Dr Cook, and thanks again to GALHA for being such consistently great hosts of such illuminating events. The lecture inspired me once again to write a blog: http://doloresdelargotowers.blogspot.com/2012/03/wearing-make-up-winking-at-respectable.html. Loved it! Jon

Fascinating to hear this history of Queer London and how it serves as a back-drop for our story today.

I trust no one gives Richard Unwin a hard time for being too ill on the day to sort the planned tour. The Natural History Museum has so much to see none of us would have had time to see it all on just one trip. Richard, even from his sick bed, so to speak, kept us in touch with each other with phone calls, postings on meetup and responding to messages. I hope others will join me in thanking him for these extraordinary efforts. I know that I enjoyed the day and the others that I met and shared conversations with. It was a fitting tribute and celebration of the contribution that Charles Darwin gave to our understanding of what it is to be human. Charles Robert Darwin FRS (12 February 1809 – 19 April 1882).

Very entertaining and a great buzz - thank you very much to Derek, Adam, Richard, Tyrone and the mysterious '1 more', for putting this on. Though fun and a fab start to the weekend, Sommer's talk surprised me a little - I had thought it might focus more on aspects of kin selection in great apes (and I wonder how familiar everyone in the audience might have been with this topic area), but in retrospect and given the venue his more rounded approach was not surprising.

An excellent evening. Packed with information and told with great humour and lovely use of slides. I'll always remember the HE HE, HE HO, HE HO and HO HO genetics.

Excellent talk. Particularly thought provoking on the use of 'natural' as an argument for and against equality and human rights. Record crowd - full to bursting.

Professor Sommer gave a very engaging and amusing talk, I'd love to hear more from him on this interesting topic. The overall message I took from his presentation was that we are looking the wrong way if we are expecting to defend homosexuality in humans by comparing it to animal behaviour. However its occurrence in nature does reaffirm that it can be explained by evolutionary theory.
