These are many and various but most involve ... Read morepsychotherapy usually by unlicensed and unqualified amateur practitioners. Many cults masquerade as 'tantra' or 'yoga' (often based on the abusive Orange Cult of Rajneeshism aka Osho) and recruit by offering free yoga or meditiation sessions. Many do not vet vulnerable recruits as to suitability beforehand but simply offer them amazing insights and powers, take their money, screw with their minds, and then spit them out without support. After involvement with some cults there have even been suicides - such as Mankind Project. And we all know about the dangers of Scientology.
