Subject: [galha] New Meetup: LONDON KISS-IN & HUG-IN Against Homophobia and Transphobia

Announcing a new Meetup for London GALHA Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association!

What: LONDON KISS-IN & HUG-IN Against Homophobia and Transphobia

When: Sunday, May 16, 2010 3:00 PM

Where:
Outside Parliament
Old Palace Yard, Westminster
London

This event is organized in partnership by the CENTRAL LONDON HUMANISTS and the GAY AND LESBIAN HUMANIST ASSOCIATION for the IDAHO: the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia.

The London kiss-in & hug-in will be part of the "GREAT GLOBAL KISS-IN": an official project by the Committee for the International Day Against Homophobia & Transphobia (IDAHO) and Gays.com.

Details:
KISS-IN if you are in a relationship love struck
HUG-IN if you are single
Or both! Kissing your partner and hugging your friends!

This kiss-in & hug-in is to make a public statement for love, freedom and equality in our community.

A kiss is a simple expression of love and affection between two people who love each other: there is nothing vulgar, obscene or disgusting about it.

This action is NOT just for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals: anyone who believes in the freedom to love and equality for all people is welcome: straight and gay couples can do the kiss-in.
Single people can hug each other: hugging friends and strangers in support of the IDAHO.

The KISS-IN & HUG-IN will take place outside the Houses of Parliament, in Old Palace Yard, Westminster. (Going west from Parliament square on Abingdon street).

Outside Parliament: to remind the new MPs that equality is a fundamental human right!

The closest tube station, fully wheelchair accessible, is Westminster (District, Circle or Jubilee lines).
Victoria, Charing Cross and Waterloo mainline stations are about 20 minutes away by foot and have connecting buses.
Buses stop near Parliament Square in Victoria Street and further up towards Trafalgar Square, in Whitehall. (All buses in London are wheelchair accessible. )

The LONDON KISS-IN & HUG-IN is organized in partnership by the CENTRAL LONDON HUMANIST GROUP and the GAY AND LESBIAN HUMANIST ASSOCIATION.

Other associations supporting this event:

- British Humanist Association

After the KISS-IN & HUG-IN we are all invited to attend the screening of a movie about homophobia in Italy: "Suddenly, Last Winter", a UK premiere organized by GALHA for IDAHO. The movie will be screened at 7pm at Conway Hall (25 Red Lion Square). The actors and directors, Luca and Gustav, will be present at this event and will talk about their experience of making this film.
